Join our fully remote 5-week research study exploring how a daily prebiotic fiber supplement affects digestive symptoms and intestinal gas production in adults with low fiber intake. Participants will help researchers better understand how prebiotic fibers interact with the gut microbiome and digestive comfort.
Participants will complete a 5-week virtual research study from home. During the study, participants will take a daily prebiotic fiber supplement or placebo, track digestive symptoms through a short daily diary, wear a non-invasive intestinal gas monitoring device (Ventos device) twice per week. All study materials are shipped directly to participants. No clinic visits are required.
Complete a short screening questionnaire through our online platform to confirm eligibility for the study. If eligible, you’ll review the study details and sign an electronic consent form through the Alethios platform.
Complete surveys on digestive symptoms and quality of life
Wear the lightweight and portable Ventos device around your waist for at least 12 hours on two designated days each week so researchers can measure intestinal gas production.
Participants will be compensated weekly, up to $150 total in Amazon gift cards, with adherent completion of study tasks. If participants successfully complete the study with >85% task completion, their Ventos device will stay active and can be kept for personal use (Ventos will retail for $399).
Researchers are studying how prebiotic fiber supplementation influences intestinal gas production, digestive symptoms, and gut microbiome activity in adults with low dietary fiber intake. Prebiotic fibers are compounds that feed beneficial gut bacteria. When fermented by the gut microbiome, they produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that support gut health — but this fermentation process can also produce intestinal gas and temporary digestive symptoms as the body adapts.
