Join this 29-day, fully remote study testing whether PepZinGI® reduces heartburn after trigger foods compared with placebo. You’ll take two short treatment phases, complete quick daily check-ins, and connect a wearable to track sleep.
Over 29 days, you’ll take a daily lozenge (PepZinGI® or placebo), complete two treatment periods separated by a washout, and eat one of your known trigger foods during designated test meals. You’ll fill out short daily surveys on heartburn symptoms, sleep, and any rescue medication use, plus a few longer questionnaires at baseline and after each treatment period. You must have a wearable (Fitbit, Oura ring or Garmin), and connect it to share sleep data. Everything is done from home.
Complete a short screening questionnaire through our online platform to confirm eligibility for the study. If eligible, you’ll review the study details and sign an electronic consent form through the Alethios platform.
Complete baseline demographics and validated assessments, connect your wearable device (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, or Oura Ring), confirm your consumption instructions, and begin your daily tracking the next day.
On scheduled test-meal days, you’ll eat one of your usual trigger foods and log your symptoms afterward. Once a week (and at the start/end of each treatment period), you’ll complete a slightly longer questionnaire.
After completing all study requirements, adherent participants will receive a $100 Amazon gift card and access to their individual study data
This study is evaluating PepZinGI®, a zinc–carnosine complex developed to support gastrointestinal health, to see whether it can reduce heartburn after trigger foods. PepZinGI® is thought to help protect and support the stomach’s mucosal lining and gut integrity, which may play a role in digestive comfort.
