About This Study

Study Data Available

What's Involved

Participants will replace their usual caffeine routine with a canned yerba mate beverages for one 5-day period and return to their normal beverage for another 5 days. You’ll complete brief daily surveys on energy, alertness, and mood, attend virtual check-ins, and use your wearable device to track sleep quality, steps, and heart rate variability (HRV).

Verify Eligibility and Enroll

Complete a short screening questionnaire through our online platform to confirm eligibility for the study. If eligible, you’ll review the study details and sign an electronic consent form through the Alethios platform.

Initial Onboarding

Complete baseline demographics and attitude assessment, connect your Fitbit, confirm your consumption instructions, and begin your daily tracking the next day.

Complete Daily Surveys and Check-Ins

Complete daily and weekly surveys through the Alethios platform about your consumption adherence, preferences, and energy levels.

Close Out and Compensation of $75

After completing all study requirements, adherent participants will receive a $75 Amazon gift card and access to their individual study data

What's Being Studied?

This study will evaluate how a yerba mate caffeine beverage affects energy, alertness, and well-being compared to participants’ usual caffeine intake. Researchers will measure self-reported outcomes such as jitteriness, relaxation, and mood using validated surveys, as well as wearable-tracked sleep and physiological data. The goal is to understand whether yerba mate provides a smoother, more balanced caffeine experience than coffee or energy drinks.

You may be eligible if you meet the following requirements

Adults aged 18–55 years
Own a compatible Fitbit or Garmin Wearable device and agree to wear it daily during the study
Regularly consume coffee or energy drinks containing caffeine and sugar
Willing to substitute current caffeine routine with the study beverage for one 5-day period
